Winter Vacation Day 1

So we headed across the border today at 7:15 am on our way to Brookings Oregon.  We had snow from Porthill until we turned to go to Kenniwick, WA

The trip down the Columbia Gorge was nice but it started to rain.

Saw a couple of barges full of grain headed to Portland.

I also learned that there are more than 250 reservoirs and another 150 hydroelectric projects in the basin. There are 18 mainstream dams on the Columbia and it’s main tributary the Snake River. There are also 7 dams on the Kootenay River which is part of the Columbia Basin.

Once we hit Hood River we ended up in an Atmospheric River. Visibility on the freeway was horrible. Len did a great job of driving but there was so much water we were starting to hydroplane, so we decided to find a campground  Ended up in Cascade Locks and are now sitting in the travel trailer trying to dry off   It will probably be an early night.
