Crescent City California

So today we woke up and the sun was shinning, so we decided we better take advantage of it, so we decided to head south to California.  The first little town south of us is Smith River which is mainly a native reserve, a casino and some state line liquor and weed stores.  Not a lot to see as we are not gamblers.  The next town is Crescent City. It is right on the ocean and has a large marina.  We explored the pier by the Battery Point lighthouse.

There were a large number of people crabbing off the pier, no one seemed to be catching much but I guess it is like fishing, a bad day of crabbing is better than a good day at work. We found a few beaches and explored but there was too much sand, didn’t find many rocks.  I also found a local cheese factory, family run, reminded me of our local cheese in Creston.  We got a few items from the cheese store, they sell the end pieces, taste just as good but usually cheaper.

We came home after a day of exploring, made a meatloaf and started Stranger Things on Netflix.  Poor Lukie didn’t have a good night. I woke up at about 5 am and he was panting on the end of the bed. I got up and took him outside for a pee, when I brought him back in and was putting him back up on the bed I stepped in something wet.  The poor little guy had thrown up on the bed and the floor.  Took him outside again, and he was sick a couple of more times. So we came back inside, got everything cleaned up and we sat in the recliners until Len got up.  I spent the morning in the laundry mat washing the quilt, the duvet and a few towels.  I also had to go to Les Schwab and get our back tire checked, it kept loosing pressure, turns out there was a small nail in it, they fixed it, balanced the pressure in all the tires and were nice enough to do it on the house.  They were great.  So tonight we are having hamburgers and salad and maybe tomorrow a trip to the Redwoods.bb
