So haven’t posted this last week. We didn’t do much for a couple of days and then I just didn’t feel like writing. I am not that disciplined when it is a daily thing over months. When you are on a 3 week vacation and doing lots, it is easier to find something to write about, sometimes there is too much. However when you are just kind of going about your daily life it takes much more discipline to write every day. So this post maybe a little longer with more pictures.
So the weather here has been a mixed bag, we had some more rain, then some sun and then the temperatures took a nose dive we got down just below freezing for two days in a row. We left the fireplace on all night, opened the grey water drain and turned on a tap all night so the hose didn’t freeze. I now that temperature is much higher than it is at home right now but in an RV low temps take on a much more serious meaning. We made it through though with nothing frozen and the temperatures are rising. We are however supposed to get rain on and off for the next few days.
So one day we drove all the way South to Port Orford, got there just in time for Len to experience his family heritage and a delicious plate of fish and chips. Very light batter and flaky fish. We did head to the beach where the waves were amazing. We hunted the beach and got a small bag of small agates. I am going to try and make a candle holder with the tiny agates so I need a bunch.
On another day we found a very nice little beach, lots of driftwood and shells, but not many rocks.
We also walked around the bay, out on to the crab dock, this is where all the locals come to catch dinner. I would like to try crabbing but I am not sure if I would be able to kill and clean what I caught. We also drove up the river to a local Elk viewpoint. There were a number of bulls in one field and the cows were off in another, they were too far away to get a good picture. These are Roosevelt are a darker colour and slightly bigger than the Elk we have in the Kootenays.
